Ten killed, 20 injured in Kishtwar road accident
Jammu, Sep 4 (UNI) At least ten people were killed and 20 injured, five of them critically, when a pick-up van in which they were travelling skidded off the road and fell into river Chenab in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources here today said.
''The pick-up van, which was on its way from Kishtwar to Thathri, skidded off the road just two-kms short of its destination, near Pain Nallah and fell into river Chenab around 1100 hrs when the driver lost his control while negotiating a sharp turn,'' a senior police official told UNI and confirmed that at least ten people have died while twenty were injured including five of them critically.
''Six people died on the spot while four succumbed to injuries after being shifted to the district hospital. The condition of five seriously injured is stated to be critical,'' the officer added.
However on receiving the information, Police and Army rushed to the spot and started rescue operations, sources added.
