Streamline security of ex, present VIPs in J and K: ANC

Srinagar, Sep 4 (UNI) The Awami National Conference (ANC) today demanded the streamlining of the excessive security of the former and present VIPs in the state.

ANC General Secretary Mir Muhammad Shafi, addressing a meeting of the district leaders of the party here, said the excessive security and other benefits being provided to the former and the present VIPs be streamlined as ''it was a burden on the state exchequer running into hundreds of crores of rupees annually.'' This amount could be utilised on developmental works, such as building roads, schools and hospitals in the state, he said.

He however appreciated the timely decision of the state administration to get all government accommodations vacated by the ex-ministers and politicians.

Mr Shafi also demanded that the accommodations occupied by Former Chief Ministers and Former Ministers be vacated.

The enormous amount of money involved in the maintenance of these buildings could feed hundreds of unemployed youth, he said and demanded that road blockade and diversion put for these former VIPs be removed immediately.
