Rs 10 lakh fake currency seized from Samjautha Express
Attari, Sep 4 (UNI) Customs officers today seized Rs 10 lakh counterfeit Indian currency from a passenger on the Lahore-Attari Samjautha Express at the railway station here.
Customs officials while confirming the seizure stated that the currency was recovered from the baggage of a passenger who had alighted from the Samjautha Express which had arrived here from Lahore. The passenger alongwith another accomplice have been taken into custody and are being questioned by Customs officials at the railway station.
Further investigations are being conducted in the case and a case has been registered at the Gharinda police station by the Punjab Police on the recommendations of the Customs department.
After the seizure the Customs officials alongwith personnel of the Railway police carried out a thorough search of the Samjautha Express after all the passengers had alighted. The return journey of the train to Lahore was delayed due to the checking.
