PSU Banks asked to take up Hindi or bilingual data processing

Mumbai, Sep 4 (UNI) The Reserve Bank of India in a circular to all Public Sector banks today stated that data processing work should be done either in Hindi or in bilingual form and only standard encoding (Unicode font/software) should be used for Hindi.

The RBI said the direction followed the orders from President of India on the issues based on recommendations made by the Parliamentary Committee on Official Language.

Accordingly the PSU banks should also provide Credit card, ATM and other services in Hindi or in bilingual form, the circular said.
