Mumbai Christians protest against Orissa incident

Mumbai, Sep 4 (UNI) Christians in the city today held a demonstration at the Azad Maidan to protest against the recent violence against members of the community in Orissa.

Addressing the agitators, Novel Salve, president, The Indian Christian Association, which organised the protest, alleged that the Orissa government had not taken any initiative to protect the safety of the Christian community in the state.

He also urged the Central government to take lead and put pressure on the Orissa government.

Mr Salve said Christians had so far been a peaceful community, and is reacting to the atrocities through peaceful protest meets only.
