Allahabad, Sep 3 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Vikram Singh has filed an affidavit before a division bench of the Allahabad High Court, that up to July 15, 2008, 6,675 children out of the total number of 8,372 missing children had been recovered, while 1,697 others were yet to be traced.

According to the affidavit, from May 1 to July 15 '08, 713 more children were reported to have gone missing.

The bench consisting of Justices Amar Saran and Shiv Shankar has expressed disappointment over the district Judge's cooperation in furnishing legal aid to the Court, notwithstanding its direction.

The HC also showed disappointment over the lack of response from the Central government in the case.

The Court has directed the district magistrate to conduct inspection and identify child labour from time to time with the aid of the inspectors.

The HC has also ordered that Rs 14 crore, which have yet not been realised from the employers of the child labours and 7,700 cases relating to the child labours, pending in Courts, should be decided soon.

The district Judges concerned should also issue necessary directions for the realisation of the aforesaid amount and expedition the prosecution and disposal, the Court underlined.

The HC will hear this case again on October 17, for receiving complaints reports and appropriate respondents from the concerned department.
