Kalia takes action against building bye law violators

Chandigarh, Sep 4: Government has taken a serious view of the irregularities committed by officers on account of violation of building plans and bye laws.

Disclosing this here today Local Bodies Minister Manoranjan Kalia said that strict action had been initiated against the erring officials. The Phagwara Improvement Trust has been directed to resume the inquiry into violations on three plots under Scheme No I.

Mr Kalia stated that SE, A K Singla has been suspended for carrying out illegal constructions of a commercial building at Guru Nanak Nagar in Patiala.

Four officials of Phagwara Improvement Trust-- R D Awasthi, ATE, Pramod Sharma, Trust Engineer, Rakesh Kumar, JE/ATE and Rajiv Kumar, DM were suspended for the illegal construction of a commercial building of Krishna Tower in Phagwara.

Similarly five officers of Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana were charge sheeted for major penalty under section 8 of Punjab Civil Services Punishment and Appeal rules 1970. These officers include, B S Brar, STP, for the illegal construction of Harkishan Public School and declaration of Public Street, Veer colony, Kamaljit Kaur ATP and Kamlesh Sharma BI, for construction of shops adjoining Sagar hotel, near Mata Rani Chowk, Ludhiana, Meharban Singh, ATP and Itebar Singh BI for illegal construction of Harkrishan Public School, Ittanwala Chowk, near Janta Nagar in Ludhiana.

Mr Kalia further said that eight officers of Municipal Corporation, Patiala have also been charge sheeted for major offences. These include B S Brar STP, A K Singla, SE, M M Syal and Gurcharan Singh, Corporation Engineers, Jaswinder Singh B1, Jaspal Singh DM, Joginder Singh and Rajpal Singla both ACE all were charged for illegal construction of commercial building at Guru Nanak Nagar.

Mr Kalia said show cause notice for minor penalty has also been given to six officers of Muncipal Corporation, Jalandhar. These include Chaman Lal and Vinod Anand, Corporation Engineers, Harjinder Singh and Sanjay Kanwar, both Assistant Engineers of Corporation, Sukhwinder Singh and Parvinder Singh both Junior Engineers for charges of construction of road near Windsar Park.
