Intl drug cartel busted, 3 including Nigerian, held
New Delhi, Sep 4 (UNI) Police today claimed to have busted an international drug trafficking cartel with the arrest of three people, including a Nigerian, and seizure of heroin worth nearly Rs 2.5 crore.
One of the accused, Lagos (Nigeria) resident Abdul Latif alias Johnson, arrested on September 1, was involved in a drug case that also included Rahul Mahajan, son of slain BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, said a senior police official.
Latif had supplied cocaine to Mahajan's friend Sahil Zaroo who later passed it on to him, he said.
The other two arrested -- Mohammad Akhtar alias Raja and Hemant -- too had been arrested earlier in drug related cases.
Four mobile phones and a laptop were also recovered from their possession along with the 2.5 kg heroin.
The drugs were primarily meant for European destinations.
