i20 to cost more than Rs 5 lakh: Hyundai India
New Delhi, Sep 4: The second largest carmaker in India, Hyundai Motors India Ltd (HMIL) on Thursday, Sep 4 said its i20 will cost more than Rs five lakh. ''i20 will cost more than Rs five lakh,'' HMIL Managing Director HS Lheem told media.
The i20 will make its debut by the end of this year. The i20 will be introduced in the petrol version and later in the diesel version as well, he added. Mr Lheem said the government should come forward to provide support for exporting of cars and also legalise auto manufacturing plants. Initially, the car will be produced with an intention to cater to the overseas market as the company has not firmed up plans to launch it in the domestic market.
i20 is a step above Hyundai's global car 'i10', rolled out in India in October last year. i20 will be produced from HMIL's upcoming second facility at Chennai.
