Detect synthetic milk at home in 5 mins

Hisar, Sept 4 (UNI) Now you can detect synthetic milk at home within five minutes by a simple method which will not cost you more than 50 paisa.

A research student of Food Processing Department of Guru Jambeshwar University of Science and Technology, Hissar has developed a method to detect the synthetic milk prepared with the help of urea and other chemicals.

Deepak, under the guidance of his Dean BS Khatkar, has developed the technique under which an acid is poured into the milk followed by another cheap chemical. If the colour of milk turns pink then it is proved that the milk is synthetic.

Explaining the method, Dr Khatkar claimed that the acid and chemical used under this method were not harmful but the detection of the impure milk can be done.

The department has applied for the patent of the technique. After patenting the method it will be publicly released the method for the use of common man, Dr Khatkar said.

''The earlier methods were lengthy and expensive and one could not conduct them at home. Now every purchaser of milk would be able to check the purity of milk at home within five minutes, only in fifty paise,'' he said.
