CIPSA-RIC sets up India's biggest printed Circuit Board Plant

Bangalore, Sep 04(UNI) CIPSA-RIC India Pvt Ltd, an Indo-Spanish joint-venture in Printed Circuit Boards (PCB'S) has set up country's biggest manufacturing unit at Tumkur in Karnataka to manufacture 5 lakh square meters capacity of double side and multi-layer PCB's per annum.

Addressing a press conference here today Mr Alok Garg, MD CIPSA-India said the new state-of-the-art facility, will have a combined investment of 20 million USD.

With the commissioning of the plant, 70 km from here, CIPSA-India has taken a new stride to compete with China on a global scale.

CIPSA-India is exporting about 65 per cent of orders and have the potential to export PCB's to the value of 50 million USD by 2010, he said.

The plant, equipped to manufacture quality PCB's incorporating new and changing technology, will be able to bridge the large domestic supply-demand gap.

Apart from housing 400 personnel,the new facility has an additional quarter million per annum capacity for manufacturing single-side PCB's. ''It also also equipped with silver-crosser technology, which nobody has in India presently'' he claimed.

Mr Evaristo Michavila, Spanish partner and CIPSA-RIC Chairman who graced the occasion, has said that CIPSA-India will be keenly watched by industry suppliers, customers and competitors.

''We will be a benchmark for prospective companies in the PCB segment from Indian and overseas''.

He also announced the sale of 10 per cent equity which was bought by Tecnomec Srl, a leading Italian PCB manufacturer. Both Indian and Spanish partners have divested 5 per cent of their equity to the Italian firm which is also manufacturing blind-milled PCB used for high-temperature facilities.
