CBI files chargesheet against own staffer

New Delhi, Sep 4 (UNI) The CBI has registered a case against one of its constables on the allegation that he entered into a criminal conspiracy with private people to unduly help, and collect illegal gratification from the accused people in various cases investigated by the agency while he was posted with Anti Corruption Unit in Mumbai.

Investigations disclosed that the constable V S Prabhu, who was working as a Naib in the court, was habitually engaged in the collection of illegal gratification from various accused persons of ACB, CBI Mumbai cases.

Investigation also revealed that this constable by abusing his official position obtained Rs 20,000 for getting a people released on bail.

During investigation, it was further revealed that he was receiving bribes from various accused people of CBI cases, for leaking to them information regarding issuance of summons and warrants on various occasions.

On completion of the investigation, CBI has filed two chargesheets against this constable and his associates under various sections of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 in the court of Special Judge, Greater Mumbai on August 30.
