Sixteen school teachers selected for state awards

Chandigarh, Sep 3 (UNI) The Punjab Government today announced state awards to sixteen teachers of government and aided schools of the state.

Disclosing this here today education Minister Upinderjit Kaur aid that the state awardees were selected strictly on the basis of merit and their performance in the field of education by the various sub committees of the education department constituted for this purpose.

The committees had personally visited the respective schools to judge and inquire about the performance of teachers whose names had been forwared to the department for the awards.

She said that the suggestions of these sub committees were again scrutinised by a state committee. While the awardees are from higher secondary schools, the rest are elementary teachers.

The Minister said that the awards would be presented on Teachers Day, that is September five ar Mohali.
