Policeman stabbed by youth in Jammu

Jammu, Sept 3 (UNI) A police constable was seriously wounded after being stabbed by a youth in Gangyal area on the city outskirts, official sources said here today.

''Police Constable identified as Sonu Raina, resident of Channi Himmat, posted in IRP 3rd Battalion, entered into a verbal dual with the accused identified as Vikramjit Singh, resident of Gangyal last night,'' police told UNI.

Following the altercation, Singh allegedly stabbed the police constable, critically injuring him.

The constable was later shifted to the Government Medical College Hospital where his condition was said to be serious, police added.

A case under Section 307 RPC has been registered against the accused, who is still absconding.
