INTACH to restore Shastri's ancestral house

New Delhi, Sep 3 (UNI) Indian Natural Trust for Arts and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) will soon take up the renovation and restoration work of the ancestral house of late Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri in Ramnagar, Varanasi.

Stating this today at a press conference here, Yogendra Narain, INTACH's member secretary said an amount of Rs 1.5 crores will be earmarked for the project. The cost will be borne partly by the Development Authority and the state government.

Earlier, the state government had declared the property as a national monument and had acquired land to build a memorial as well.

He said the decision was taken after an INTACH team met with UP government officials.

Apart from this, it was also decided that a Task force will be formed comprising INTACH officials and state government representatives to monitor the progress of implementation of the JNURRM plan in seven Uttar Pradesh cities, Mr Narain informed.
