CPI(M) taking all steps for Third Alternative: Yechury
Hyderabad, Sep 3 (UNI) Communist Party of India(Marxist) Politbureau Member Sitaram Yechury today said his party was taking all efforts to forge a third alternative at the national level to provide a credible and stable government.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting with TDP Chief N Chandrababu Naidu at his residence, along with CPI(M) General Secretary Prakash Karat, Mr Yechury said the party was looking for a third alternative besides the Congress and BJP at the Centre, and the party was holding discussions with various parties, including the TDP and the BSP, on the issue.
Earlier also, the party had held discussions with the TDP leaders on the issue, he said while describing it as a 'continuous process.' ''We will discuss with all the secular parties. We want to give stable, credible government for the people,'' he said.
Mr Naidu said all the secular parties in the country were vigorously looking for a Third Alternative.
His party was willing to go in for an alliance with the CPI(M) in the next elections in the State, as the TDP's main intention was ''to defeat the Congress Government'' both at the Centre and in the State.
