Seven feared drowned,ten rescued from turbulent Kosi in north Bihar

Madhepura, Sept 02 (UNI) In yet another tragic incident seven people were feared drowned and several others went missing in the turbulent Kosi in the midst of a devastating flood situation in this north Bihar district today.

Preliminary reports informed that at least ten people were, however, rescued and brought to safety by the Army jawans in another boat.

They said the tragredy occurred when a countrymade rescue boat capsized midstream in the Kosi while returning to a relief camp at Patori after rescuing several marooned people from the far-flung Singheswar village.

The boat was reportedly carrying about 40 villagers, including several women and children, when it capsized midstream, the sources said adding while some could swim ashore, several might have been swept away in the swollen river.

Incidentally, in two previous boat disasters at least 34 people drowned in north Bihar flood since August 28.
