Science City to come up at Obula Devara Cherur in Anantapur

Hyderabad, Sep 2 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Major Industries Minister J Geetha Reddy today said the State government had entered into an agreement with Jurang International, for establishment of Odyssey Science City at Obula Devara Cheruvu and Maduguru Mandals in Anantapur district.

Replying to a question raised by P Raghunatha Reddy (TDP) during Question Hour in the Council, she said the delay in implementation of the project was due to pending Public Interest Litigation in the Andhra Pradesh High Court against the implementation of the project.

The Minister protested and expressed resentment when the member alleged that the company was delaying the implementation of the project due to heavy 'commissions' demanded by the Congress leaders.

She urged Chairman A Chakrapani, to expunge the Opposition leader's remarks from the records.

The treasury bench members alleged TDP's main intention was to stop the developmental activities taken up by the Congress government and hurling allegations against it.

The Minister said the Odyssey Science City (India) Pvt Limited had undertaken the establishment of Odyssey Science city as a self-contained, modern, hi-tech urban complex, with a comprehensive infrastructure including power, telecommuncations, water supply, waste disposal, housing, industrial and commercial complexes, communication networks and transportation.

The State government agreed and assured the company to extend necessary cooperation for the development of the city.

Industries and Commerce department would be the nodal department and the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation would be the nodal agency for rendering necessary assistance to the Odyssey to fecilitate expeditious clearances.

As per the MoU, the duration for completion of the project was ten years, she said.
