No-confidence motion will be taken up: Speaker
Hyderabad, Sep 2 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker K R Suresh Reddy today made it clear that he would not reject the notices given by the TDP and the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) for a no-confidence motion against him for want of time.
''The motion will certainly be taken up,'' he assured the House after a heated exchange with Leader of the Opposition N Chandrababu Naidu, who expressed reservations over the Speaker's ''impartiality'' in conducting House proceedings.
''I will make sure that the motion comes up for discussion within the scope of the Assembly rules. You have every right to take it up,'' the Speaker added.
Earlier, Government Chief Whip N Kirankumar Reddy maintained that as per rules, at least 14 days were required for bringing in the motion.
Legislative Affairs Minister K Rosaiah said the Government was ready for a discussion at a time fixed by the Speaker.
Citing precedence, Former Speaker and TDP Legislator Y Ramakrishnudu said the Lok Sabha had not rejected any no-confidence motion on earlier occasions and wanted the Speaker to facilitate taking up of the motion against him.
