New minister in Assam Cabinet, reshuffle likely
Guwahati, Sep 2 (UNI) Veteran Congress leader Akan Bora was today inducted into the Assam Ministry even as Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is expected to make a ministerial reshuffle later tonight.
Mr Bora took the oath of office at a glittering function at Raj Bhawan where Mr Gogoi and his other ministerial colleagues, senior police and civil officials were present.
Mr Bora's induction filled the vacancy created by the exit of former Education Minister Ripun Bora who was chargesheeted by the CBI for trying to bribe and influence an official in connection with a murder case against him.
Later, Mr Gogoi, speaking to newspersons, indicated that he would reshuffle his Ministry, interchanging some of the crucial departments among various ministers of his government.
Mr Gogoi is under pressure to shunt aside Mr Bharat Narah from the Water Resources department after 12 engineers were suspended for compromising flood protection work at the Dhemaji area in the northern part of the state.
