MP Cong demands CBI inquiry into financial irregularities in mandi

Bhopal, Sep 2 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee has demanded a CBI inquiry into alleged financial irregularities during construction of agriculture produce mandi in Karond here.

State party spokesperson Manak Agrawal told a press conference here that a memorandum demanding inquiry in this regard has been submitted to Governor Balram Jakhar and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

He alleged that rampant corruption took place in construction of road, auction shed, office and bank buildings, etc. A sit-in was staged by district Congress Committee (Rural) President Avnish Bhargava in the mandi premises.

Mr Agrawal claimed that a meeting was called on August 20 for purchasing electric meter six high-mast street light and cable bulb. However, before a conclusion could be arrived at, Rs 40 lakh was provided to a company in this regard the next day.
