CM welcomes suggestion of converting Mah into power hub
Talegaon, Pune, Sep 2 (UNI) Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh today welcomed the suggestion to make Maharashtra a power generating hub.
Addressing a gathering at the opening of General Motors second vehicle manufacturing facility in the country and roll out of the first Chevrolet Spark here, Deshmukh said that it was about time that investments were invited from Industries for power generation using coal, solar and wind energy and other non-coventional sources.
''The state enjoyed the premier position in power generation not too long back and supplied power to neighbouring states. We must think now of such units that can bring back that position and enable to supply power once again considering the pace of industrialisation countrywide,'' he said.
Earlier, Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar said that the state must become self sufficient in power generation.
