Videocon Group go ahead with its steel and power projects in Bengal
Kolkata, Sep 01(UNI) Videocon Group Chairman V N Dhoot today said his company would go ahead with its steel and power projects in West Bengal despite the agitation over the Tata Motors' small car project at Singur.
''We have already acquired 400 acres of land for our project and we have been assured of coal linkage,'' Mr Dhoot told reporters after meeting Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee at the state secretariat.
Videocon proposes to set up a three-million ton steel plant and a 1,200 MW power project in the state investing a total of Rs 15,000 crore.
Mr Dhoot's assurance came at a time when a sustained agitation over land acquisition threatened to unsettle the Tata Motors' Nano car project at Singur, prompting the car makers to sound a pull out threat.
