Ten MDRT qualified LIC agents feliciatated in Goa

Panaji, Sep 1 (UNI) Ten outstanding agents of Life Insurance Corporation of India, qualifed for Million Dollars Round Table (MDRT)-2009, were felicitated on the occasion of LIC's 52nd anniversary at the hands of Chief Commissioner of Income Tax Dr Kalyan Chowdhary here today.

The qualifed agents included Joseph Jacqes, Guruprasad Dandekar, Pratap Parab, Pradip Jsohi, D S Prabhu, Sudesh Kavalekar, Mahesh Pai, Uday Phadke, Sanjeev Patil and Prasad Shirodkar.

Earlier, Mr Chowdhary, who was the chief guest at the function, complimented LIC for encouraging the agents to grow from strength to to strength.

The Senior Divisional Manager of LIC, Preeti Panwar, said in the financial year 2007-08, LIC did a new business of 375.90 lakh of policies. One of them was of Rs 2,75,457.65 crore sum assured.

Goa Division has achieved 107 per cent of its policy budget and 106 pc of its first premium income budget of 2007-08 by selling 1,20,579 polices and getting a first premium income of Rs 185 crore.

The division has 49 MDRT qualifiers and 257 Shatakveer Agents, Ms Panwar added.

She said LIC in the last financial year had collected a total premium income of Rs 1,49,706 crore, and paid total claim amount of Rs 57,623 crore on more than 139 lakh policies. LIC's total life fund amounts to Rs 6,86,616 crore and total assets amount to Rs 8,03,820 crore.

Goa Division had settled over 55,137 claims amounting to Rs 138.32 crore by way of maturity and SB claims and 2,241 death claims amounting to Rs 17.10 crore.
