Security forces launch search operations in Jammu
Jammu, Sep 1 (UNI) Having fresh inputs about the presence of suspected militants in the Jammu city and its outskirts, the security forces today jointly launched search operations to track them, official sources here said.
''Both the Army and the police launched a combing operation following reports of the movement of some suspected militants in Top Sherkhani area of the city and Chinore,'' a senior police officer told UNI.
Police, however, has announced high alert here following major infiltration of militants from Pakistan on International Border in Kanhachak on August 26.
''We have appealed to the people to inform the police immediately if they had seen any doubtful person or suspicious movement around their locality or on the peripheries of the city,'' the police official added and said that checking in the suspected areas has been intensified to neutralise the militants operating in Jammu.
The high alert, however, continued for the fourth consecutive day today while the vehicles were screened and frisked at all entry and exit points of the city.
The searches and the security in the Winter Capital have been strengthened after infiltration on the border and the Chinore massacre in which three militants and seven others, including three armymen, were killed on August 27 during a 19-hour-long gun battle.
