Rupee opens soft at 44.10 against US Dollar

Mumbai, Sep 1: The spot rupee on Monday, Sep 1 opened softer at 44.10 per US dollar from its last close of 43.93 on some good dollar purchase by bankers.

Dealers said, the domestic unit slipped during the morning session as banks bought dollars locally to sell offshore, but some state-run banks and corporates sold the greenback, preventing a steeper fall. Later, it fluctuated between 44.10 and 44.24 per dollar during the mid-session.
