Rubber Board to assist growers in Kerala
Kottayam, Sept 1 (UNI) The Rubber Board has invited applications from rubber growers for availing assistance for replanting s well as plantations under the Rubber Plantation Development scheme in Kerala. Applications in the prescribed form in duplicate together with two copies of correct survey plan of the land already planted or proposed to be planted in the year 2008 should reach the respective regional offices of the board on or before December 31.
The rate of assistance was Rs 19,500 per hectare for replanting and new plantings in the traditional rubber growing area of Kerala and Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu. The area under rubber cultivation does not exceed five hectare.
The rate of assistance in non-traditional region was Rs 30,000 per hectare, including planting subsidy, cost of poly bag plants and transportation subsidy. In non-traditional areas, all places except Kerala and Kanyakumari district growers, whose rubber area does not exceed 20 ha are eligible for the assistance, according to an official release.
