NBCC seeks relief for Orissa riot victims
Kohima, Sep 1 (UNI) The Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) has appealed to all its member churches and families to contribute to a relief fund for the victims of the communal clashes in Orissa.
In an appeal, NBCC general secretary Rev Zhabu Terhuja said foodgrains, utensils and clothes were urgently needed for the victims and the NBCC will accept cash or cheque, which will be sent to the victims in Orissa.
He claimed that as per the media reports, it was not a clash among the Hindus and Christians, as the latter were not retaliating.
''The fanatic Hindus are persecuting them,'' he said.
The Reverend informed that the Christians all over the state are observing September 7 as a 'Day of Prayer' for the Orissa violence victims.
The NBCC appealed to all its members to send their contributions to the NBCC office.
