LIC starts insurance week celebrations

Kochi, Sep 1: As part of its 52nd anniversary, Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) today started its Insurance Week Celebrations across the country, which will end on September seven.

Addressing a press conference here today, Ernakulam Senior Divisional Manager M Jaganath said the celebrations assume greater significance as LIC was adjudged the 'number one most trusted service brand' in India for the fifth year in succession by 'Economic Times Brand Equity Service' for 2008.

He said the Division was numero uno among the 108 divisions in total premium collected during the current financial year as 1,54,072 policies were sold for a total first premium of Rs 202.58 crore. The target is seven lakh new policies and Rs 1,480 crore in first premium.

As part of the policy servicing, the division had identified 13 more centres in the three districts of Ernakulam, Thrissur and Palakkad to open statellite offices during the fiscal.

Presently, there were 12 existing satellite offices apart from the 24 full-fledged offices in the division.
