Fire at Hundai car plant, paint shop damaged
Chennai, Sep 1 (UNI) A fire broke out at the Hyundai car factory at Sriperumbudur near here this afternoon, causing damage to a paint shop.
No casualty was reported, as the shop was closed today for weekly holiday. A few people, carrying out maintenance work in the paint shop, escaped unhurt, fire service sources said.
When contacted, Inderjit, Hyundai Vice-President (Production) told UNI that the cause of the fire and the extent of damage could be known only after an investigation.
Initial reports suggested that the blaze occurred, due to an electric short circuit in the unit.
Fire tender units from Sriperumbudur, Kancheepuram and neighbouring areas rushed to the spot and put out the flames.
