ACB nabs KMC junior engineer for accepting bribe

Kolhapur, Sep 1 (UNI) Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials today nabbed a junior engineer of the Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 4000.

Vishwanath Ratnakar Joshi, from Kadamwadi, had applied for building construction premission on June 23, 2004 on which application KMC junior engineer Baburao Dabade, working at the Tararani office, asked Mr Joshi to re-apply with the necessary corrections, ACB sources said.

As per the guidelines, Joshi applied twice on 20.8.2006 and 22.8.2008 - and requested Mr Dabade for early permission. On August 31 this year, Dabade told Mr Joshi that the permission could be granted if he paid Rs 5000 to him, the sources added.

The matter was settled on Rs 4000 and Mr Joshi informed the ACB who laid a trap at a roadside shop near Bhausingji, where Dabade was caught while accepting the bribe, ACB sources informed.
