Bihar: Localites protest the death of youth

Samastipur, Aug 31: Local residents of the Marwari Bazar area of the district on Sunday, Aug 31 blocked the Samastipur-Patna and Samastipur-Darbhanga roads to protest the death of a youth in the area.

The protesters demanded legal action against the employees of the state electricity department and alleged that due to their negligence the youth had lost his life yesterday. The agitators also demanded Rs five lakh compensation for the next of kin of the victim.

Later, after getting assurance of fulfilling their demands from Circle Officer of Samastipur Paritosh Kumar, the agitators withdrew their protest.

Rohit Ahuja, son of a local trader and resident of Thakurbari lane under Town police station area of the district, was electrocuted when an overhead electric wire fell on his body, police said.
