Some groups trying to project themselves as champions of SC: Antony

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 31 (UNI) Senior Congress leader and Defence Minister A K Antony today said some groups were trying to project themselves as champions of the depressed sections with an eye on the vote bank.

Speaking after inaugurating the state-level celebrations of the birth centenary of Babu Jagjivan Ram, he said the uplift of the depressed classes like the Scheduled Castes had been an area of high priority of the Congress at all times.

Others were now claiming to be champions of the depressed section, he added.
