Minorities forum condemns attack on churches

Tiruchirapalli, Aug 31 (UNI) The Tiruchirapalli District unit of the Minorities Forum today strongly condemned the attack against churches, nun's hostels, orphanages, schools run by Christian missionaries, in Kandhamal district of Orissa in the last few days.

Forum President J J L Gnanaraj and Secretary A W Sahinsha told newspersons that a resolution to this effect was adopted at a meeting held here.

They said the meeting also appealed to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi to ensure safety and security of the minorities in Orissa and called upon the then to send letters and telegrams to Dr Singh and Ms Gandhi in this regard.

To condemn the continuing attack it was decided to observe a day's fast here on September two and hoist black flags in all churches and houses of Chrisitian minorities, they added.
