Man murders teenaged daughters, attempts suicide

Bathinda. Aug 31 (UNI) A man allegedly murdered his two-teenaged daughters and then tried to commit suicide in Chak Fathesinghwala village in the district today, police sources here stated.

According to reports, Gurmail Singh hacked his daughters, Rajbir Kaur (15 ) and 19-year old Prabjot Kaur to death with an axe early this morning while they were asleep. Later, he consumed a pesticide and tried to end his life, but was saved by neighbours who rushed him to a hospital here.

On the statement of his wife the police have registered a murder case under Section 302 of the IPC against the accused at the Nathana police station. Residents of the village claimed that Gurmail Singh was mentally depressed. The police have begun investigations.
