Acute shortage of Fertiliser in Manipur
Imphal, Aug 31: The state is facing acute shortage of fertilizer as landslide on NH 39 in Nagaland has blocked roadways in the area.
Official sources here on Sunday, Aug 31 said that fertilisers could not be brought in following the blockade caused by landslide.
The General Secretary of Nongchup Imphal Loumee Shinmee Chaokhat Thourang Lup, a farmers organisation, K Thoiba said they will launch agitation to protest the shortage as it encouraged black marketing.
The government should ensure the availability of fertiliser as it is the peak time for farmers, he added.
The organisation further alleged that few trucks of fertilizer had been brought in which were forcibly taken away by some VIPs.
The Imphal-Dimapur route was disrupted again following the incessant rainfall during last 48 hours, official sources said.
The government of Nagaland had stopped movement of trucks loaded with more than 15 tonnes.
