8 aboard Delhi-bound train killed in UP
Bulandshehar, Aug 31: At least eight passengers were killed and 12 others injured after coming under the impact of a JVC machine while travelling on the Delhi bound-Lachvi Express near Sikandarpur railway station, about 35 km from here.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Raj Kumar, the accident occurred when some passengers of the overcrowded train were standing near the doors and came under the impact of the JVC machine and died.
The machine was pressed into service near the Sikandarpur rail track for some repair work, he added.
The train was en route from Kanpur to Delhi.
The injured have been sent to Khurja for treatment, where five were stated to be critical.
The deceased and injured mostly hailed from eastern UP and Bihar.
