No improvement in ground situation: Tata

Mumbai, Aug 30: Work of the Tata Motors Nano car project at Singur was affected for the second day on Saturday, Aug 30 with the management asking the workers to keep away from the troubled site.

In a statement here Tata Motors said, 'There is no improvement in ground situation to enable the workers return to the plant site.' The Company has also evacuated all its workers from its USD 350 million plant, stating that continuing public protests against the plant threatened the Company's workers. More than 600 engineers and executives were trapped for three hours inside the Tata Motors factory when blockade began on Thursday evening as Paschimbanga Khet Majur Samity activists, led by farmer leader Anuradha Talwar, held a cultural programme and squatted on the Durgapur Expressway near the gate leading to the factory. West Bengal's ruling Left Front has said the blockade is totally against the culture and tradition of hospitality of Bengal.
