New green tourist hub proposed in MP town

Jabalpur, Aug 30 (UNI) The cantonment town in Madhya Pradesh is soon going to get a new tourist destination in form of lush green Madan Mahal hills to cater nature lovers.

An action plan to the tune of Rs 6.52 crore have been sent to Centre in this regard.

Hills of Madan Mahal, which is sprawled on 427 hectare in the heart of the city, are canopied by myriad species of trees, including those facing extinction-threat. Hills have conserved forest range.

The action plan consists of the construction of 8 km road, plantation of more trees, construction of track-route and digging handpumps.

''A high-official meeting would be held in Delhi in this regard and a Municipal Corporation's Nodal officer would be sent there,'' Divisional Commissioner Prabhat Prashar said here yesterday while presiding over a meeting on 'Development of tourists spot in Jabalpur'.

Mayor Sushila Singh, Collector Hariranjan Rao, Head of Eastern Region Electricity Distribution Company Pankaj Aggarwal and Tourist Department Corporation's General Manager S Chauhan attended the meeting.

Besides, Bio-Diversity Board also proposed a project to the Centre on 249.12-hectare area in Thakurtaal area.
