Modi announces Rs 5 cr assistance for Bihar flood victims
Ahmedabad, Aug 30 (UNI) Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has announced Rs five crore aid for flood victims of Bihar and assured all cooperation in rescue and relief operations.
In a letter, addressed to Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Mr Modi today expressed sense of shock and sympathy of Gujarat government and the people of the state to the flood victims in Bihar.
He said Gujarat has often faced natural calamities and it has developed an efficient disaster management system and human resources.
The state is ready to provide all these services to Bihar, he said.
He urged Mr Patil to make arrangements to airlift some 12 state- of-the-art boats and trained personnel to flood-hit areas of Bihar.
