MNF remembers fallen comrades
Aizawl, Aug 30 (UNI) The ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) party in Mizoram has immortalised the names of those who had laid down their lives for Mizoram during the 20-year-long MNF-led insurgency in the Northeastern state.
Martarte Thlanmual (martyrs' cemetery) situated at Luangmual, on the western outskirts of Aizawl, was inaugurated by MNF president and Chief Minister Zoramthanga yesterday.
As many as 1,563 names of those who died during the bloody insurgency from 1966-1986 were inscribed on the marble blocks. The martyrs included MNF rebels and civilians.
Quoting the famous war memorial lines, the rebel leader-turned- Chief Minister said, '' They (the martyrs) had given their today for our tomorrow. They deserve much more than just inscription of their names on the stones, but this is the most we can do for them. Even though they had died, they will live on in our hearts.
