Life remains crippled in Kashmir for the 9th day

Srinagar, Aug 30 (UNI) Life in Srinagar and other major towns in the Kashmir valley remained paralysed for the ninth day today due to strike though curfew was relaxed in phases.

Shops and business establishments in the curfew free areas across the valley remained shut and traffic was off the road. Government offices, educational institutions and banks also remained closed in these areas.

People continued to face an acute shortage of essential commodities due to an indefinite curfew for the past five days.

They alleged that they have no milk, vegetables and rice.

However, roadside vendors were seen selling essentials during curfew relaxation. Shops, closed and traffic off the roads.

People from almost all parts of the valley complained about the shortage of essential items, particularly milk for kids. However, some vehicles of milk fedrations were seen distributing milk in the uptown and civil lines. The milkmen have been issued curfew passes, official sources said.
