Industrialist K K Birla passes away

Kolkata, Aug 30 (UNI) Eminent industrialist and former Rajya Sabha member K K Birla today passed away at his Birla Park residence here after a brief illness.

He was 90.

Mr Birla, chairman of Hindustan Times and other Birla group of industries, is survived by three daughters.

A spokesman for the family said Mr Birla was ailing for the last two weeks and died at about 0730 hrs, adding the funeral would take place today at Keoratalla.

His wife Manorama Devi Birla had died about a month ago.
