Fire guts Action Shoes unit in Baddi

Shimla, Aug 30 (UNI) A major fire gutted a shoe manufacturing unit of Action Shoes in the Baddi industrial area of Solan district early this morning, causing damage worth crores of rupees.

Baddi fire officer Daleep Thapa said the inferno broke out in Nikhil International Limited, mainly manufacturing the Campus shoe brand for the Action Shoes, at Batolikalan-Baddi Industrial area.

Four fire tenders battled for over three hours to douse the flames, he said, adding, there was no loss of life in the incident.

He said the articles stored in the plant and godowns were reduced to ashes in the fire, causing damage worth crores of rupees.

SDM Nalagarh would be assessing the exact quantum of losses, he added.

One side of the factories had to be demolished to prevent the blaze from spreading to the other part of the building.

Though the fire was suspected to have been triggered by a short circuit, an inquiry would be conducted to ascertain the exact cause, Mr Thapa said.
