Bengal Governor condoles K K Birla's death

Kolkata, Aug 30 (UNI) West Bengal Governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi today deeply mourned the death of industrialist and former Rajya Sabha member Dr K K Birla.

In his condolence message, the Governor said, '' In the passing away of Dr Birla, within days of the passing away of his wife, we have lost a couple that stood apart in highmindedness and public spiritedness. '' '' Sri Krishnakumarji as he was affectionately known was an acute observer of national and international events and made important though discreet contributions to public policy, including economic policy. I offer my tribute to the memory of an outstanding social engineer, an inovative newspaper-owner and industrialist, '' Mr Gandhi said.
