Antiques worth crores seized, 4 held in Jammu
Jammu, Aug 30 (UNI) Crime Branch sleuths seized antiques, including sapphire idols and coins, worth crores and arrested four persons in Janipur area, official sources here today said.
''Based on a specific information that around four smugglers have come to Jammu to purchase antique idols and coins, the Crime Branch team raided a shop in Janipur locality last evening and made the seizure with the arrest of the quartet,'' they told UNI.
Sources further said that two idols made of sapphire, a statue and one pendant having value of approximately Rs 10 crore in international market, were recovered from their possession.
The accused had been identified as Subash Chander Jain, Zafar Hussain Ganai, Chander Kumar and Subash Chander Saraf, they said, adding a case under sections 4/5 Sapphire Act, 1982 and 5/25 Antiqueties Art Treasurers Act had been registered against them.
