Pakistanis displaced by fighting in dire need of help

Nowshera, August 29, 2008 : Pakistani troops near the Afghan border recently launched an offensive against militants in the Bajaur region early this month…Fearing fights between government forces and militants thousands of Pakistanis in the area are now fleeing from the region.

The region is said to be a haven for al Qaeda and Taliban fighters. More than 200 people, mostly militants but also including some civilians have been killed in the recent fighting.
