TN provides electronic weighing machines to ration shops
Chennai, Aug 29 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu government has provided electronic weighing machines to all the ration shops in the state to ensure that the card-holders were supplied food and other items with correct weight.
On the directive of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, electronic weighing machines were distributed to 23,600 ration shops, involving a total cost of Rs 8.50 crore, an official release said here.
In Tamil Nadu, there were 29,760 rations shops, of which, 6,150 shops had already been provided with electronic weighing machines.
With the supply of the machines to 23,600 shops, there was no ration shop in the state without electronic weighing machine, the release added.
