TATA workers prevented from leaving NANO plant in Singur
Singur, Aug 29 : Work has come to a standstill at the TATA Motar's manufacturing plant in Singur, West Bengal, after Trinamool Congress activists prevented company employees from leaving the plant.
A TATA Motors spokesperson said, "Work has come to a standstill at the plant. The protesters laid siege around the Nano plant not allowing any employee to enter the factory."
On Thursday, activists of an anti-farmland acquisition group, led by a social activist, prevented over 200 construction workers and engineers of TATA Motors from moving out.
TATA officials said Paschimbanga Khet Majur Samity (PKMS) activists led by Anuradha Talwar blocked three vehicles from leaving the plant.
Talwar warned that the blockade would continue till the f 400 acres of land taken from "unwilling" farmers for the project was not returned.
