Security and other arrangements for LAHDC elections finalised
Srinagar, Aug 29 (UNI) Unprecedented security arrangments have been made for the smooth conduct of general election of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Kargil, to be held tomorrow.
The authorities have set up 223 polling stations, 24 hyper- sensitive and 36 sensitive for the 83,883 voters to elect their representatives in 24 constituencies.
Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, Satish Nehru said as many as 892 polling staff and more than 1,000 police personnel including para- military forces have been deployed for the polling.
He said helicopters were also pressed into service to airlift the polling staff and material in some remote areas.
